Tools To Check Your Diamond

Jewelers generally use maginfier or in their terminology we can say Loupe to check the quality of diamond. It is the game of only lenses. Let us do some research work on the tools and techniques of diamond quality checking :

Number of Lenses :

The quality of loupe depends on the number of lenses used. Generally we prefer triplet loupe as it contains three lenses placed together in such a way that distortion and color problem are corrected.

Magnification Power :

Loupes are labeled with a number followed by the symbol 'X' which means "number of times". For example a 3X loupe makes an object appear three times its actual size. In jewelry 10X loupe is considered as best loupe.
In a loupe two things are important :

Focal Length : The distance that you hold the loupe from an object in order to get the best focus and magnification.

Field of View : It refers to the size of the area you can see through the lens.
