Kseniya Sukhinovia from Russia was crowned Miss World 2008 in a fascinating ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. Malaysia International Fashion Week

The Malaysia International Fashion Week (MIFW) scheduled from Nov 26 to 29 at the ballroom in The Gardens Hotel and Residences in Kuala Lumpur, is ready to excite the fashion industry with a line-up of exciting events.


With participants from more than 23 nations, the event is supposed to be an ideal platform for industry designers. In a statement of, MIFA chairman Heah Sieu Lay, the fashion event will feature the hottest fresh faces that have been making a splash in the past few years.

One of the highlights of the MIFW will be the collaboration with the Russian Fashion Week and Global Fashion Alliance (GFA), which will present creations by Serguei Teplov. MIFA is also collaborating with China Bentley Culture Development, which will be bringing in the Chinese entourage that includes designers, media members and buyers.

A Report On Global Craze for Jewelry

According to AFNS, a report entitled "Global Jewelry Retailing 2008” highlighting the indication of tremendous boom in Jewelry Retailing. As per report the global jewelry market will grow by 35% to $318 billion by 2013.

The Asia Pacific region will help compensate for a U.S. market that is expected to be weak through 2010. Asia-Pacific markets will share for $41 billion worth of all jewelry market growth by 2013, constituting more than half of its overall growth.

Aussie fashion in New York

Fashion Week in New York will have a distinct Australian flavour when it kicks off this week.

As New York-based Australian designer Michael Angel opens the prestigious show on 29 august 2008, he will be joined by top Sydney designer Alice McCall.


According to Alice "In London you have a hell of a lot of labels like us, very cool and a lot of people pioneering new styles. But because the US is more commercial we've got a quirk so hopefully we'll stand out more."

The label is currently stocked in 18 stores in the US but the aim is to pick up accounts with major department stores and up the number of boutiques.

"Our agent is saying that within 12 months we can go to 100 stores, but we need to do a show in the US to do that," she further added.

New Shoe Collection by Paris Hilton At Macy's Fashion Show

Las Vegas Macy's Fashion Show witnessed the debut of new fall shoe collection by Paris Hilton.

Hilton, arrived by wearing, baby-blue gown, showed off her trendy new shoes at Macy's Fashion Show. The collection features a wide range of footwear, everything from platform stilettos, pumps and knee-high boots to flats, t-straps, and ankle boots.


The famous hollywood actress was inspired by the high-fashion runways in New York, London, Paris and Milan. The shoes mix "all things girly with a whole lotta rock-n-roll," according to Thevegaseye.com.

Fashion Show featuring the Time Bomb attire

The Funky and edgy, Time Bomb Heiress collection, for women, will be showcased at a fashion show on Thursday( 31-july 2008) at Moto in the Strip District.


"This line has a New York street edge," says Brian Brick, owner of the show's host, Time Bomb Spot in Shadyside. "There are lots of little details on the clothes. We researched what is in for women. We have lots of cool stuff.

The clothing is fashion forward. It's the female version of the type of men's apparel that the store has carried during the past 12 years. The show will mark the debut of a collaboration with Blast Clothing.

Miss Universe 2008 crown for Dayana Mendoza from Venezuela

Dayana Mendoza from venezuela has clinched the Miss Universe 2008 crown. in a close run with Taliana Vargas (Colombia - First runner up), Marianne Cruz Gonzalez (Dominican Republic - Second runner up), Vera Krasova (Russia - Third runner up) and Elisa Najera (Mexico - Fourth runner up) to win the beauty pageant. Organised in Nha Trang city of Vietnam, the beauty contest was participated by beauty queens of 80 countries.

A delighted Mendoza received the crown from Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori of Japan. Talking with media persons, Mendoza revealed that she was once kidnapped in her homeland and her past experience taught her to remain poised under pressure.

Miss India 2008, Simran Kaur Mundi could not make into last 15 semi-finalist list. For the eighth consecutive year, Indian beauty queens have returned empty handed from one of world's largest glamorous extravaganza. Earlier Lara Dutta fetched the Miss Universe title for India in 2000. Since then no Indian beauty win the crown for India.
